Dental Assistant — Full-Time (Monday - Thursday)

Crosby Family Dentistry is a patient-centered, family-owned practice located in Crosby, MN, dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality dental care to the Brainerd Lakes area and beyond. Position Details

  • Position: Non-exempt, Full-time
  • Pay: $21.00 – $27.00 per hour, based on experience
  • Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Reports to: Dr. Kiefer Miller

Responsibilities

Patient Care & Preparation

  • Greet and escort patients to the treatment area, ensuring they feel welcome and comfortable
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all materials are ready prior to patient arrival
  • Chair-side assisting during a wide range of procedures including fillings, extractions, crown preparations, root canals (endo), dentures, implants, clear aligners, and teeth whitening
  • Provide post-operative care instructions to patients clearly and professionally
  • Take, process, and assist with interpretation of digital X-rays
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records and treatment notes

Clinical & Sterilization Duties

  • Follow strict sterilization and disinfection protocols in compliance with OSHA standards
  • Assist with fabricating temporary restorations, impressions, and lab case coordination
  • Maintain dental equipment and troubleshoot malfunctions as needed
  • Keep treatment rooms organized and fully stocked between patients

Administrative & Team Support

  • Support front office operations including scheduling, patient check-in, and administrative tasks during downtime
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss patient care, workflow, and office efficiency
  • Anticipate the needs of the doctor and patients to ensure smooth, efficient care
  • Represent the practice in a professional, positive, and cooperative manner at all times

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; diploma or certificate from an accredited dental assisting program preferred
  • Current Minnesota Dental Assistant License preferred; if not yet licensed, must obtain registration/certification within 6 months of hire
  • Current CPR and dental X-ray certification required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards
  • Comfort working with a variety of dental procedures and adapting to changing duties
  • Team-first attitude with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Registered Dental Hygienist — Part-Time (Thursdays)

Crosby Family Dentistry is adding a hygienist to our team due to the growing volume of new patients. This is a great opportunity to get in early, build your own patient base, and develop lasting relationships from the ground up — all in a one-day-per-week Thursday schedule with a supportive, established team.

Position Details

  • Position: Non-exempt, Part-time
  • Pay: $35.50 – $47.00 per hour, based on experience
  • Schedule: Thursdays only, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Reports to: Dr. Kiefer Miller
  • Ideal for a hygienist seeking a reliable one-day-per-week position

Responsibilities

Preparation & Hygiene

  • Welcome and seat patients warmly; review and update health history at each visit
  • Ensure treatment rooms are properly set up and ready prior to patient arrival
  • Perform head and neck/oral cancer screenings
  • Capture, process, and mount digital X-rays for doctor review; capable of interpreting findings
  • Chart existing hard tissue restorations and note areas of concern
  • Perform comprehensive periodontal evaluations (probing depths, bleeding points, recession) and communicate findings to patient and doctor
  • Perform oral prophylaxis, scaling & root planing, and root debridement therapy as appropriate
  • Administer fluoride treatments
  • Utilize intra-oral camera and patient education technology as appropriate
  • Discuss any previously diagnosed, unfinished treatment with patients
  • Educate and motivate patients on proper oral hygiene, preventive care, and corrective measures
  • Ensure patient chart is complete before leaving the treatment room; schedule re-care appointments prior to patient dismissal

Sterilization & Equipment

  • Set up, disinfect, and break down treatment rooms and instrument trays per office policy and OSHA standards
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and intra-oral devices in accordance with office policy
  • Wear required PPE (masks, gloves, safety glasses) at all times during procedures and cleanup
  • Clean and maintain hygiene handpieces; ensure instruments are sharpened and stocked as needed

Team & Practice Support

  • Assist other team members when time permits, including front desk support (greeting patients, answering phones, scheduling)
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute information on patient care and office efficiency
  • Use downtime constructively and maintain a positive, professional presence with patients and teammates
  • Perform light housekeeping as needed (break room, patient areas)
  • Ability to calm and reassure patients before and during uncomfortable procedures

Qualifications

  • An active Minnesota Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license is required
  • Current CPR certification required (reimbursed by practice every 2 years)
  • Completion of an accredited Dental Hygiene program required; 1+ year of general dentistry experience preferred
  • Strong periodontal assessment, charting, and patient communication skills
  • Ability to write clear, detailed, and accurate patient chart notes
  • Professional, reliable, team-oriented, and punctual
  • Comfortable working independently and following established safety and office procedures
